Israeli weapons systems are mostly Israeli-designed: Merkava tank, Tavor rifle, Iron Dome, F-35I "Adir." The doctrine emphasizes speed, surprise, technology, and quality over quantity. "Purity of arms" (טוֹהַר הַנֶּשֶׁק), restraint with civilian populations, is the core doctrinal principle, codified in the IDF Code of Ethics. Decoding equipment vocabulary lets you read any defense article.
Cultural note, The Merkava tank ("chariot") was designed in Israel after de Gaulle\'s 1967 weapons embargo. Its unique feature: engine in front (not back) to protect the crew. The Tavor was designed to replace M16, bullpup design, optimized for Israeli urban combat. The F-35I "Adir" is the only F-35 in the world allowed customization (Israeli-specific software). The doctrine also centers on the "Dahiya doctrine", disproportionate response to deter further attacks (controversial).
