Conversation Capstone: Real-World Fluency

Lesson 298 · סִכּוּם שִׂיחָה

B2/C1 conversation means navigating any social context: small talk with a stranger, intense political debate, technical discussion at work, family argument, taxi-driver chat about football. You can interrupt politely, change topic, hold opinions, disagree without offense, recover from mishearings. This lesson catalogs the conversational moves that mark advanced fluency, interjections, hedging, backchanneling, register-shifting on the fly.

Cultural note, Israeli conversation is notoriously direct: interruption is normal, opinions stated forcefully, "lo nakhon" (not correct) said without apology. B2/C1 means joining in, not just following along. Practice voicing disagreement: "אני לא בטוח", "זה לא בדיוק ככה", "אבל מה לגבי...". Israelis respect speakers who push back. Quiet listeners get talked over.
