Root ע־ר־ך: arranging & value

One image sits under this whole family: laying things out in order. From arranging comes the setting up (a table, a meeting, a text you edit); from a thing's place in an order comes its value; and from sizing up where something stands comes estimating and appreciating it. Battle-lines, systems, exhibitions, even a math exponent: all are things lined up in a deliberate arrangement. Every word here is verified against pealim, niqqud included.

The verb across the binyanim (voices)

The same root runs through the verb system. Each binyan is a voice: it bends the one idea into active, passive, causative or reciprocal. Tap to hear.

Two binyanim carry the verb load: the pa'al "to arrange / edit" and the hif'il "to estimate / appreciate", note how the causative step turns physical arranging into mental sizing-up. The passive and reflexive slots are not lexicalized for this root; Hebrew expresses being-arranged with other constructions.
