This root means to behold, but a deeper, prophetic seeing rather than ordinary looking. From it come the seer who beholds the future, the vision itself, and the modern forecast. The same idea of "what is set before the eyes" gives the theatre play, the facade that faces the street, and even the battlefront. And the contract, חוֹזֶה, is a thing foreseen and agreed in advance. Every word here is verified against pealim, niqqud included.
The same root runs through the verb system. Each binyan is a voice: it bends the one idea into active, passive, causative or reciprocal. Tap to hear.
Only the pa'al verb is lexicalized today, and it already carries the prophetic weight of "behold / foresee". The reflexive shows up not as a base verb but inside the noun הִתְחַזּוּת (impersonation, "making oneself appear as"). Everything else in the family is nominal.
Same root letters, different noun moulds (mishkalim). The mould tells you the function: who does it, the act of doing it, or the thing produced.
Strip the prefixes, suffixes and vowels. Three consonants remain, and the meaning lives there.
