everything to do with time, and so with the newspaper that catches it
4 words · 1 root · 0 verb-voices

Behind this root sits עֵת, time (plural עיתים, times). The newspaper is named straight from it: עִתּוֹן is the thing of the times, the daily catch of what is happening now. From that one noun the whole press family unfolds, the trade (עיתונות), the person who works it (עיתונאי) and the craft itself (עיתונאות). Four words, one idea: the writing that belongs to the moment. Every word here is verified against pealim, niqqud included.

This root has no lexicalized verb in modern Hebrew: the action "to time / set a time" is carried by other roots. What lives here is a tight family of nouns, all spun off the word for the newspaper, the daily record of the times.
