Three consonants carry one heavy idea: effort that costs you. The plain verb means to toil; the same root names the worker, the labour, and even the fee paid for work done. From there it stretches in two surprising directions: the effort to bend minds (propaganda) and the effort to bend the body (gymnastics). One root, and the whole arc from sweat to spin. Every word here is verified against pealim, niqqud included.
The same root runs through the verb system. Each binyan is a voice: it bends the one idea into active, passive, causative or reciprocal. Tap to hear.
Only the active pa'al (to toil) is lexicalized as a verb. The effort senses that other roots carry through their binyanim are here carried instead by nouns: ta'amula (propaganda) and hit'amlut (gymnastics) freeze a hitpa'el / causative flavour inside a noun rather than living as everyday verbs.
Same root letters, different noun moulds (mishkalim). The mould tells you the function: who does it, the act of doing it, or the thing produced.
Strip the prefixes, suffixes and vowels. Three consonants remain, and the meaning lives there.
