Coffee in Israel is a daily religion. Cafés on every corner, "kafe hafuch" the most-ordered drink in the country, "mitz" (juice) at every breakfast, "limonana" the iconic summer drink. Lessons 79 (coffee culture) and 78 (wine) introduced the basics; this one goes deep into Turkish, Bedouin, espresso bar Hebrew, ordering precision, and the Israeli alcohol scene.
Cultural note, "קָפֶה הָפוּךְ", "upside-down coffee", is the Israeli cappuccino. Order it at any café in the country. "קָפֶה בּוֹץ" (mud coffee) is Turkish coffee, hot water + grounds, no filter. "אַסְפְּרֵסוֹ קָצַר", short espresso. The wave of specialty coffee since ~2010 brought third-wave coffee to Tel Aviv (Cafelix, Cafe Kaymak, Cafe Aroma). Tea is more associated with Mizrahi/Arab/Druze contexts than Ashkenazi.
